Pressed metal door frames can be assembled in a number of ways depending on your specific requirement.

Taylors Doors and Frames assembly options are provided to cater for a range of specification, freight and installation requirements.

To view specific details about each assembly method available follow the links below.

Knock Down

Frames are supplied in a kit form which includes the frame stiles and frame head along with appropriately sized spreader bars. The stiles are pre fitted with rubber buffers (non rated frames only), hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate) and strikes as required and require assembly on site.

Knock Down frames substantially reduce the m3 requirement for transport as opposed to factory assembled frames. For transport interstate or internationally Knock Down frames are the recommended assembly method as this minimizes the chance of damage in transit as the frames can be suitably pallet packed and strapped.

Taylors Weld Free Frame

An innovation in pressed metal door frame design, the Taylors Weld Free Frame is a pressed metal door frame with no welding.

This is achieved by a innovative mechanical fixing method developed to mechanically connect the strike provision and hinge provisions to the frame stiles.

The major advantage of this assembly method is in maintaining the protective coating of the base metal used in the manufacture of the pressed metal door frame.

TJS (Taylors Joining System) – Site Assembly

The TJS joining system is an innovation of Taylors Doors and Frames. Similar to a Knock Down frame with the major advantage of eliminating the need to weld the frame together on site. The TJS joining systems has a corner bracket arrangement which allows the frame sections to be slotted tight into each other and screw secured.

The TJS joining system is suitable for any installation where a Knock Down frame would have been used in the past and is especially beneficial for supply into areas where there is a lack of skilled labour required for the correct welding of frames on site and areas where existing frames need to be replaced.

Another major benefit of the TJS joining system is where frames in an existing installation require replacement (e.g. up grading of unit entry doors from non rated to fire rated).

In using the TJS joining system the frame can be sized to go over the wall thus maximizing the clear opening where as the common retro fit frame is generally reduced in width and height to enable the frame to be fitted to the opening left after removing the existing frame.

Frames are supplied in a kit form which includes the frame stiles and frame head along with appropriately sized spreader bars. The stiles are pre fitted with rubber buffers, hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate), strikes, TJS joining angles and screws for the TJS joining angle.

As with a Knock Down frame, the TJS frame substantially reduces the m3 requirement for transport as opposed to factory assembled frames. For transport interstate or internationally TJS frames are the recommended assembly method as this minimizes the chance of damage in transit as the frames can be suitably pallet packed and strapped.

TJS (Taylors Joining System) – Factory Assembly

Frames can be factory assembled if this is required and can be supplied assembled for disassembly and reassembly on site.

Assembled – Spot Welded

Frames are MIG welded with 2 spot welds across the architrave and ground flat including the installation of the required hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate) and strikes. Assembled frames come complete with spreader bars and ready for installation on site without having to first put the frame together.

Assembled – Fully Welded

Frames are MIG welded with a full seam weld across the architrave and ground flat including the installation of the required hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate) and strikes. Welded frames come complete with spreader bars and ready for installation on site without having to first put the frame together.

Assembled – Welded and Polished (Stainless Steel)

Frames are TIG welded with a full seam weld across the architrave and ground flat and blended to maintain the polished finish of the base steel including the installation of the required hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate) and strikes. Welded frames come complete with spreader bars and ready for installation on site without having to first put the frame together. Stainless Steel frames are individually bubble wrapped for protection during transit.

Assembled – Welded, Paint by Others (Stainless Steel)

Frames are MIG welded with a full seam weld across the architrave and ground flat including the installation of the required hinges (welded hinge or screw fixed hinge backing plate) and strikes. Welded frames come complete with spreader bars and ready for installation on site without having to first put the frame together. Stainless Steel frames are individually bubble wrapped for protection during transit.
